Competing possibilities

I am calling it a hybrid typology.

Funeral spaces, ritual, memorial, support. I keep putting them into a sequence because death appears to give me one. But people should be able to enter at different points without having to go through the whole thing. ^february-entry-cue

I also want the building to feel a particular way. I keep moving between the felt idea and wanting something concrete enough to make decisions with.

Could materials hold memory? Could weathering make time visible? There might be something in a living landscape, but I do not have a site yet. I cannot make the landscape explain the project before I know it.

I am looking for methods and finding more possibilities: sensory experience, performance, systems, nature. I do not yet know which of these will help me draw.

The programme list is becoming clearer. The relationships between its parts are still loose.

Reading onward

Thread present: memory and return. If you arrived from Knowledge, return to the discussion of return beyond the funeral.

The questions about material memory and methods remain in this diary. They are not developed as separate threads in this small sample.

Continue in Time: May chapter. The intervening months are outside the selected sample.

Retrospective reflection

These ideas were competing for hierarchy. I understood and over-prioritised logic as a response to hardcore academia vs the poetic and embodied intelligence I thought was invalid.
